We love a good garden party, even if it rains! And boy, did it when we trundled over the hill with our sand sculpture tools from our West Yorkshire studio to the neighbouring town of Burnley for the second annual Burnley Summer Garden Party.

Jamie, Rich and Emily travelled over from Hebden Bridge to show the people of Burnley some professional sand sculpting techniques with our family friendly sculpture workshops. Jamie made a table top sculpture of a scarecrow guarding a pumpkin patch – though not very successfully from the birds that were perched on it’s head and shoulders!

Even though it was the summer holidays, it was typical british summer weather – it rained most of the time but people were still in high spirits and came along to the party and had a go at sand carving.

This is the second year the garden party has taken place. It’s a two day extravaganza, with lots to do as well as our sculpture workshops such as street entertainment, food stalls, live music, gardening workshops from Budding Burnley, as well as a sunflower growing competition. I wonder who won? Thanks to Burnley Council for inviting us to the party!
