We’re big kids at Sand In Your Eye and we love our cartoons. Ronnie always listens to your problems, she’s our Care Bear. Jamie likes to pounce around from sand drawings to ice sculptures and pumpkin carving, he’s Cat Boy. Liz likes going on holiday, so she is Jett from Super Wings. Mark is friendly, just like Molang, and knows everybody in Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd, where our sand sculpture studio is. However the biggest kid of all, Rich turns into the Cookie Monster whenever he gets hold of a packet of ginger nuts or hobnobs!!!
One lovely August day the guys at Tiny Pop and DNA PR asked us to join them on the beach, so we eagerly grabbed our sun hats and our rakes to make a giant anamorphic sand drawing of Rich, err I mean, the Cookie Monster on sunny Blackpool beach. It was so giant, Jamie was joined by the Sand In Your Eye super team of sand artists; Claire, Hannah, Lou, Tom and Jo.
Jamie now has a CAA drone licence and is fully insured, which is one step up from the model airplanes and remote control cars you might have played with as kids. This means we can now provide footage of our artwork to clients, our team can also edit together social media friendly videos in house so you can engage with your audience in one quick bite of a cookie.
We were joined later by more cartoon fans, our sand artists ran some family workshops to show them how to create sand drawings of their favourite cartoon characters. Pretty soon Cookie Monster was joined by all the Care Bears, PJ Masks and even more characters from the children’s imaginations!
Bez put together some great films of the giant sand drawing, using Jamie’s drone footage, as well as how to videos of Jo showing you how to make the various characters, to go on social media.
Finally, Cookie Monster brought along his Foodie Truck to the beach, so the kids and Sand In Your Eye team could get ice creams to quench their thirst after a busy day of sand drawing. I hope the big kids didn’t eat all the ice cream before the little kids could get to it.
