Year of the Dragon Calendar 2024

A new one for us, we were asked by LG Studios to create an Eastern Dragon sand sculpture for a modelling shoot for a ‘Year of the Dragon 2024 Calendar’.

The calendar was for Photographer Alexandra Leese‘s latest Project ‘Year of the Dragon 2024’.

Thirteen women, from different cultures that celebrate the Year of the Dragon, were photographed for a lunisolar calendar.

The calender aimed to reinterpret the traditional erotic calendar with a bold, modern and feminine view point. The calendar is a celebration of culture, beauty and the divine power of female sexuality. 

Dave and Jamie sculpted the dragon using 800kg sand. The sculpture needed to be sturdy enough for one of the models to sit on and it took a day and a morning to complete.

There was a whole day of photoshoots, at one stage the model accidentally put her foot through the dragon’s face. The make up artist took great pleasure in finishing it off at the end of the day!
